Are your employees exposed to trauma?
Trauma from accidents and workplace violence can put
an enormous strain and pressure on employees that are
often already doing a difficult job. We have a great
deal of experience working in organisations where staff
interfaces with the public, where incidents are on the
increase.
Our programmes for helping deal with traumatic
incidents and work place violence are unique and have
grown from years of work with established and globally
recognised trauma specialists.
The solutions ensure the organization
becomes more effective and robust in its ability to
deal with such incidents. It is a well researched fact
that positive support and intervention post incident
reduces the likelihood of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
(PTSD).
We can give your managers and /or in house counsellors the confidence and knowledge of how to respond, in an informed and helpful way, following traumatic incidents.
Immediately following the terrorist attacks on 7/7 ejtassociates worked with the staff and counsellors at London Underground providing Critical Incident Aftercare. (CIA)
We used the innovative TRRP group programme as an alternative to debriefing with groups of Underground staff to normalise traumatic response and symptoms. This supported both managers and operational staff and was found to be of enormous benefit.
We worked closely with managers with and staff to support return to working where appropriate and referred individuals for additional expert help where required.
Critical Incident Aftercare CIA
We are available to provide on the spot Critical Incident Aftercare in the form of trauma first aid.
We can go immediately to incident sites, provide leaflets, contact numbers, information about what helps and what to expect with a 72 hour follow up.
Turner Rebuilding
Resilience Programme (TRRP)
This programme aims to help individuals rebuild their
resilience following a traumatic incident such as an
assault, accident or incident. It takes the form of
a group, in order to remedy the isolation trauma results
in and normalise the effects. The group aims to help
people identify resources and build on them, teaches
techniques to recognise and deal with dissociation and/or
high states of arousal and supports the individual with
the impact it may have on relationships.
The facilitators are experienced trauma therapists and
it takes place over 4 weeks.
TRRP course book
Comprehensive step by step courses book with information
and exercises to support the group work.
TRRP for Managers
Aimed at teaching managers how to relate skillfully
with employees post incident. It is a 3-day course providing
basic but essential information on the physiology of
trauma and equips managers to respond appropriately.
The approach is hands on, utilising techniques, listening
skills, and role-play from work situations. The last
part of the course looks at managers’ own resilience
and support structures, an often overlooked but essential
part of managing in order to prevent burn out.
Individual Assessment
and Trauma Counselling
We have as part of our team a number of highly qualified
and experienced trauma counsellors. They are equipped
to assess and work with individuals post incident. This
may take the form of short-term support and normalisation,
or in some more complex cases it may take the form of
ongoing counselling.
The counsellors will work with you as
managers while respecting confidentiality. They will
refer to our psychologist in appropriate cases.
TRR Managers
Guide
A guide that can be issued to all managers, it will
be customised to suit your organisation. It contains
some basic information and examples of how best to support
traumatised employees.
Mediation Service
This is the development and training of suitable individuals,
outside of the management structure to give informed
support. This method is rather like a ‘buddy scheme’
or trauma support volunteer and is often carried out
by an individual that has had longstanding experience
in the organisation. This facility gives extra support
for those individuals who are not so resilient or may
have court cases pending as part of the situation.
Trauma First
Aid leaflet
What helps; what doesn’t; how to normalise the
situation; and what to expect. A practical guide for
those on the frontline who attend incidents regularly
and immediately.
Incident Guide
Guide for all staff who are vulnerable, outlining how
to maintain resilience and the procedure if exposed
to an incident. Also tips on things that do and don’t
help.
Recognising Resilience;
Workbook and Briefing
A workbook that helps recognise and strengthen personal
resources. This work book is designed to be proactive
and reduce the risk of isolation, confusion and post
traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) if an incident occurs.
It is presented and filled in as part of a 1 hour briefing,
which is educative and practical and facilitated by
an experienced trauma consultant.
Ongoing Support
Contact can be via email or quarterly meetings. We will
design the support to meet your needs.

MANAGEMENT CASE STUDY

just work with large organisations!
Shepherds
Bush Bus Depot
Managers have found working with us particularly
helpful when supporting staff and giving them
the confidence to re establish their resilience
and engage with work/life after traumatic incidents.
Although the garage had all the
post incident paperwork procedures in place they
were concerned that the human aspect of post trauma
support was not so strong.
The programme we offered involved
training managers that were already managing staff
well, but wanted more skills and a system to stop
pitfalls. After meetings to discuss specific needs
and ideas, we worked with managers for 3 days,
getting to know more about the trauma process,
role playing and creating a procedure suitable
for their particular needs, utilising their experience.
We backed this up with specially designed leaflets
and a trained garage mediator.
We keep in regular contact and offer
support as required. The course is now being offered
to other garages due to its success.
We found the Trauma Support Course
an effective learning experience that covered
many aspects of trauma management. The methods
used in training specifically the use of role
plays, lent themselves to realism and enhanced
the learning experience. Since the course we have
put the training into practice and it has proved
to be invaluable. Roger Auclair

Testimonial
Emerald Jane Turner is one of the
most competent professionals I know. Her programs
on resilience are well designed and have been
well received for several years. In addition,
her courses and other aides for managers are very
useful for reducing work-place stress; including
that resulting from traumatic incidents. I confidently
and enthusiastically recommend her as a teacher,
trainer and psychotherapist.
